Clover Academy Center-Based Programs

Early Head Start

The Early Head Start program provides quality child care, educational and recreational activities to infants and toddlers between the ages of 6 weeks to 2 years.

Early Head Start focuses on developing solid learning skills at a young age. These cognitive and behavioral skills play a vital role as young children begin to grow.

Our program promotes strong development and achievement in gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, language, self-help, and social and emotional skills. Our Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Twos includes dramatic play, music, books, puzzles and art. Each day our children receive two hot meals and a snack, while formula and diapers are provided for all infants.

Our continuity of care strategy allows children to remain with the same teaching team from entry until transition to preschool building strong, positive relationships. With a teacher to student ratio of one to four, children are able to work in small groups with a primary caregiver teacher to support individualized instruction and help them learn to work and play with others developing positive peer relationships and friendships.

We also actively engage parents to participate in their child’s education and recognize the importance of regular attendance to the foundation of their child’s educational career. Many of the children who complete the Early Head Start program transition to our Head Start preschool.

We also have a Home-based Early Head Start option if you would prefer to teach your child our curriculum in the home.

Head Start on a Historic Campus

The Head Start program prepares preschool children, ages 3 to 5, for successful academic careers by using innovative methods to make learning fun.

Our teachers are highly qualified professionals with specialized training and degrees. In every classroom, there is a lead teacher and an assistant.

Our curriculum-based instruction offers an age-appropriate environment that allows children to learn through hands-on exploration and discovery that helps build lifelong critical thinking skills and fosters confidence. The children are also exposed to Music and Movement, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), Physical Education and Health, Computer Literacy and the Arts, one to two times each week. Our approach to learning also provides children with social-emotional strategies for building relationships and increases their comfort and confidence at school.

The program encourages parental participation toward building a strong academic foundation for their child through regular meetings, ongoing communication, and advocacy activities.

Classroom spaces at all age levels for Early Head Start & Head Start are divided into well-defined interest areas that encourage distinctive types of play and promote development in all areas. These areas are flexible to accommodate children’s changing interests. Each interest area promotes fun, hands-on learning all day long. Outdoors, children have the opportunity to run and play on large, grassy area, and climb and interact on developmentally appropriate playground equipment.

Teachers guide children’s behavior using positive guidance strategies and support learning during every part of the day. They are intentional and responsive to the needs of the children, providing them with a consistent, respectful learning environment at all times.
